SES America Inc.(SESA), a Rhode Island-based manufacturer of digital, LED signage for the transportation industry has been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for their Blank Out and Lane Control Signs. The Traffic Deadlock Dilemma
Looking to address the traffic deadlock dilemma that plagues many urban American experiences, the City of Phoenix has deployed a double warning system in the drop zone of a local school. This area is prone to high volume vehicular congestion, especially during morning drop-off hours, with a left turn pocket at the school ground's entrance that clashes with a right turn lane from the other direction. These opposing lanes are often at odds, with drivers from both directions feverishly attempting to enter the drop zone area first.
SES America, a Rhode Island-based manufacturer of dynamic LED signage is pleased to announce the installation and successful commissioning of seven trailblazer signs along the Remington area of I75 in Michigan.
SES America(SESA) and its partners New England Traffic Solutions and New England Signal Systems recently completed testing and commissioning of Solar Powered Signs for several Weigh Stations in New Hampshire. These signs are installed on I-93 near Windham, NH and will be used to display the status of weigh stations (OPEN or CLOSED) on both the northbound and southbound directions of the highway.
Actual Cost Analysis from Texas DOT, 2009-2014
Beginning in 2009, South Texas Department of Transportation districts began retrofitting existing signs utilizing retrofit upgrade options either to replace older technology or to update troublesome signs. Through this time period, the tracking of average installed costs versus new installation costs was provided by contractors in 2014.
This comparison is based on each sign's capability of projecting 3 lines of 18 characters, 18 “high characters in amber color. The new DMS option does not reflect any feature upgrades to the signs each district may have added. The new DMS pricing is the minimum amount on the current purchasing contract at that time for four years. Both options were front access type signs. Excluded was the superstructure or support costs - given that retrofitting would use existing structures, the cost is not evaluated here. Contractors and the DOT estimates that new structures for overhead applications run $150,000-$200,000.
